Surrounded by the cooling waterways of the Sacramento River Delta is the rich farmland of the Clarksburg appellation.
Weighted drawbridges and swing bridges give access to the lush lands bordered by Interstate 5 on the east and the Sacramento Deep Water Channel on the west. Small towns dot the riverside and wine grape vineyards nestle among the farmlands of row, field and orchard crops. The northern appellation border parallels the town of Freeport, while the southern border runs along Twin Cities Road, extending to the Sacramento Deep Water Channel. Warm summer days and cool breezy nights represent the climate in the Clarksburg appellation during the long, dry growing season. This is the picturesque setting of Heringer Estates Family Vineyards and Winery.
Clarksburg’s premium wine grape micro climate compares with the best regions in California. St. Helena, Sonoma and Paso Robles to name a few.
Limited summer fog influence gives the region the benefit of a few more hours of sunlight at the same monthly high temperature. This enables growth of a diverse portfolio of premium wine grapes, all achieved with less risk and higher probability for consistent quality. Clarksburg’s climate has significant less probability for spring frost, allowing more consistent productivity, quality and evenly ripened premium wine grapes year after year! The region sees less rainfall during critical wine grape growing stages to ensure the highest most consistent quality wine grapes available in California.

Heringer Estates Family Vineyards & Winery is certified sustainable.
We are dedicated to handing this land down in equal or better condition to future generations. We tend for our land with the future and present in mind, from conscientious water management to integrating native plants to our rotating cover crop. As you walk through our vineyards you’ll hear buzzing in the old oaks lining the property – bees darting in and out to collect pollen from our floral cover crop. In last moments of the sunset, you may see an owl flying low to the ground looking for dinner to feed her young owlets cozy and warm in a box lining the slough.
We meticulously and sustainably manage our family vineyards, resolute that we will consistently produce the best wine grapes the Clarksburg appellation has to offer.
Our viticultural practices are highly respected in the industry due to our understanding that great wine can only be crafted from great grapes and that every wine is formed in the vineyard.
