Oh California sunshine! We are so fortunate to have year round farmers’ markets here in California. But come summer, the market community explodes with multiple locations, dates and times to shop. With fresh in-season produce of all kinds, flowers, meats, fish, local honey, olive oils, fresh-made juice, hummus, salsa and now, WINE, it is a one-stop shop for the best our local farms have to offer.
A little history….
Why is Heringer Estates at your local market? Because we are farmers! The Heringer family has been farming in Clarksburg for almost 150 years. That’s a long time for Yolo county. Since all of our wines are estates grown, bottled and produced right here, we are able to bring our certified sustainable wines to the markets.
We are now offering wine tasting at the farmers’ markets. Thanks to a lot of research and lobbying we were able to get legislation passed July of 2014 to allow wine tasting at the farmers’ markets. Now you can enjoy tastes of locally grown apples, pears, plums and wine!
Why the markets?
We love seeing our wine club members and guests at our tasting room, but we know that making it out here often isn’t always in the cards for everyone. Being at the markets allows our fans to pick up their favorites (that Eco Cask isn’t going to refill itself) at their convenience while they are out shopping for their weekly groceries.
In any case, stop by to say hi to our awesome farmers’ market associates! They are out there, rain or shine, ready to chat, pour and laugh. If you’ve seen their chalkboard signs you know they have a great sense of humor. Don’t miss out and visit us this weekend.
Here’s what our awesome market team thinks about working these farmers’ markets:
“The farmers’ market is my happy place! I love the hustle and bustle of the markets, being surrounded by fruits and vegetables, and watching as my community gets excited by fresh, healthy food. I love talking to the farmers and vendors, and learning about their craft and life’s work. And the midtown market must be the best dog-watching spot ever!” ~Lauren~ Midtown Farmers’ Market
“The farmers’ markets give an opportunity for local communities to learn about the Clarksburg wine region and gives them access to high quality sustainably produced wine right in their neighborhoods. People get so excited to learn that they can taste the wine at the markets and pick up their club shipments too. My favorite part of working the market is being directly in the community, getting to know our customers, and helping new customers find a wine they love. And our farmers’ market team rocks!” ~Michelle ~ Davis Farmers’ Market
“I love the different people that I get to meet at the market. It’s fun getting to know them.”
~Rachel ~ Country Club Farmers’ Market
“I feel like working the markets brings us to the community. We are looking for the wine connoisseurs and the amateur wine drinkers alike. I also love mingling with the farming community. We do work for farmers and live in the farm to fork Capital. I love the people and people watching in general. And the excitement they have from seeing wine at the market is priceless.”
